Dr. Gwen Sanders
About
Dr. Gwen Sanders, Ph.D., LMFT, ATR-BC, ATCS, has taught at several Universities and is the Practicum Director for Dominican University Art Therapy Psychology program. She is the recipient of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) annually designated Distinguished Clinician Award in 2019 and the Notre Dame de Namur University’s most prestigious student nominated George M. Keller Award for teaching excellence in 2016.
Gwen has taken many students on 5 service-learning community projects to Central America working with multigenerational survivors of war trauma. Dr. Sanders has a private practice in Oakland California since 1996, worked with emotionally disturbed youth and their families, been a Military Family Life Consultant to the Army on 4 - thirty to forty day rotations in Europe, and has been a Clinical Supervisor for twenty five years. She is a HLM and Past President of the Northern California Art Therapy Association (NorCATA), and is a California Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT) Certified Supervisor since 2003.
